Centro Studi SNAMID Nazionale – Milano – Italy ; Istituto Nazionale Tumori – Milano – Italy

Background

The goal of the study is to estimate the utilitΰ and reliability of the clinical record involving a group of General practitioner (Gp) in monitorino the activities related to the oncological patients they have in charge and in the starting of the self-reported information needs. First NEOFAT aims at defin\ing : Gp profile; Activity pattern; Information flow model; Decision making epidemiological pattern. Second, it finds out,by means of interviews to the Gp : needs, problems, decisions. Finally to test the oncological record by means of WEB technology.

Methods

The information are acquired thanks to the oncological record which is devided in fours parts :

1st  part – Anamnestic (diagnosis, clinical status, management by the Gp or Oncological Centre)

2nd  part – Decision making (kind of approach : burocratic, clinial or oncological)

3rd  part - Data base (diagnosis,therapy)

4th  part – Problem identification and solving

Data analysis was performed with descriptive statistics

Results

The study develops throughout 2 steps . During the first step,50 Gp are involved, working in metropolitan and suburban area, 51% of then reaches the end of the study getting through the 2nd step during 267 oncological records related to 250 patients have been picked up and tested.

Follow up was the status in which 73% of patients were observed. 71% of then gets in touch with Gp for clinical purpose (oncological and non oncological). The kind of management is related to kind of contact, in fact direct management means involvement in specific problems (such as clinical-oncological) on the other hand the specialistic center management determines a merely

Burocratic Gp involvement.

Conclusion

The clinical attitude/style of the Gp is very important in the identification and solution of problems in the doctor and patient relationship. The improvement of Gp involvement willenable to ovecome obstacles to the information flow. The shared.care between Gp and Oncologist finds in the oncologica record available in WEB.
